Local Ohio top prospect, Turner Banyasz becomes the fifth player to sign a Tender with the 2017-2018 Wooster Oilers. The 6′, 190lbs power forward is from Kirtland, OH. Banyasz, 18, played this previous season locally with the Cleveland Barons U18 team. Prior to playing with the Barons, he spent three seasons with the Cleveland Lumberjacks youth program. Banyasz was selected to participate in the USA Hockey Mid Am District Select Festival Camp the past four years, making it to the All-Star game three out of the four years he participated. He also played for Team Ohio for two years for the One Hockey Tournament. Banyasz spoke about why he decided on Wooster when he said, “I met Coach Aaron last year and he has kept in touch with me over the past year, even coming to see a couple of my games. Coach Aaron has been able to get me skates with a few NAHL teams in order to get me in front of NAHL coaches. Anyone I ask that knows Coach Aaron has positive things to say about him and what a great job he does at coaching and really caring for his boys. I am really excited to have the opportunity to work and grow with Coach Aaron in the 17-18 season”.
“Today is a big day for our program. Turner is high caliber player with great potential. Turner works very hard and competes at a very high level in everything he does. He is a power forward that will really make his presence known. I am very excited to get the opportunity to work with him in furthering his career. Not only is he a great player, but he is a great person as well. He has a very bright hockey career ahead”, said Head Coach Aaron Hernandez.
